A Word With: Donald Brittain
Donald Brittain was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 2, 1928. The United States looked like they were going to restart draft so he joined a private unit in the National Guard. He started training in 1948 in Los Angeles every Monday from 7-10 PM for 2 years. He then went to train in Camp Cook in San Louis Obispo for about 5 months. He got on a train to San Francisco and boarded a ship and it took about 15 days to get to Japan. He was positioned as staff Sargent when he was 22 years old. "We had to march about 10 miles to the camp in Japan, where we went for further training." "He had them trapped and that was the beginning of the end of the Korean War." "MacArthur led our troops to victory all through the South Pacific" "He was probably one of the greatest military genius' of our time." ~Donald Brittain
